The Best Way To Cook Brussels Sprouts

We love roasting Brussels sprouts in the oven spread out in a single layer on a baking sheet so that they cook evenly.

It is the perfect technique, and there is no sauteing to worry about and no extra dishes to wash!

Just throw everything on a large baking sheet and roast in a hot oven.

How to Prep Brussels Sprouts

Brussels sprout are very easy to prepare. 

When purchasing them, look for Brussels sprouts that are firm and don't have any shriveled or withered leaves.

Use a paring knife to carefully trim the bottom of the sprouts and then cut them in half.  Be sure to halve the sprouts lengthwise to keep the leaves intact at their core.

Aim to cook your Brussels sprouts within 3-4 days of purchase, as they tend to lose sweetness as they age.

Bacon, Bacon, Bacon!

This Keto Brussels Sprouts with Bacon dish wouldn't be complete with out the bacon of course!

Cooking Brussels sprouts with bacon adds so much flavor. 

For this recipe, just chop up the bacon slices into bite-sized pieces and toss them with the Brussels sprouts on a baking sheet.

The Method for Keto Brussels Sprouts with Bacon

To make this dish, just mix the Brussels sprout halves and chopped bacon with avocado oil on a baking sheet. Then season with salt and pepper 

Bake for 20-25 minutes 375°F until the outsides of the sprouts start to turn a dark golden brown. 

Make sure to toss the mixture halfway to ensure it cooks evenly and prevent the sprouts from burning.

Don't Forget the Sweet Maple Horseradish Sauce

These Keto Brussels Sprouts with Bacon are fabulous on their own, but even more fabulous with you mix them with our Sweet Maple Horseradish Sauce!

The sauce gives them a smoky flavor that is out of this world!

The sauce consists of just 3 ingredients - prepared horseradish, chipotle mayo (we use Primal Kitchen brand), and sugar-free BBQ sauce (again, we use Primal Kitchen BBQ Sauce).

Mix everything in a bowl and you are set!

Put the Keto Brussels Sprouts with Bacon All Together

Once the Brussels sprouts are out of the oven, spoon the Sweet Maple Horseradish Sauce over top of them and toss to fully coat. 

Transfer to a serving platter and enjoy!

What to Serve with Keto Brussels Sprouts and Bacon

This side dish is the perfect accompaniment to chicken, beef, pork, or seafood. So basically everything!!

This is also a great (and easy side) to serve with a Thanksgiving turkey.

Ingredients

For the Brussels Sprouts

  • 1 lb. of Brussels sprouts or roughly 4 cups cut in half
  • 8 slices of cooked bacon chopped
  • 2 tablespoons avocado oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • sprinkle of black pepper
  • 1/4 cup Sweet Maple Horseradish Awesome Sauce recipe below

For the Sweet Maple Horseradish Awesome Sauce

  • 2 tablespoons prepared horseradish
  • 2 tablespoons Primal Kitchen Chipotle Mayo
  • 4 tablespoons of Primal Kitchen BBQ Sauce

Instructions

For the Brussels Sprouts

  • Heat your oven to 375°F.
  • Mix the Brussels sprouts, bacon, avocado oil, salt, and pepper on a baking sheet.
  • Bake for 20-25 minutes until the outsides of the sprouts start to turn a dark golden brown, toss the mixture halfway during cooking.
  • Remove from the oven and mix in the Sweet Maple Horseradish Awesome Sauce.

For the Sweet Maple Horseradish Awesome Sauce

  • Mix all the ingredients together in bowl.
